A four piece Indie/Rock band based on the Wirral-  Formed in late 2007, having jammed a few times together. In January 2008, they had their first gig. Since then, they've played a few gigs and met some great bands. The Artillery love playing alongside other bands, and don’t mind performing alone. Since 2009 they have played gigs largely in Liverpool and are regularly performing in the Wirral/Liverpool area.

The band originated from 4 best friends, living in the Wirral. They studied music in school and it was always a hot topic for them to discuss. Bringing the band together caused a lot of arguments and heated discussions, this was mainly because both Danny and Matt wanted to be the lead singers, but with huge support from family and friends the band pulled through the phase and Danny took the lead vocals with Matt back singing.

Danny Jones- Lead Vocals + Guitar from the Artillery speaks here

“When we first started doing gigs, everything was a little scary! But we got over the nerves and gigging has now become the best experience of my life. We first started touring 3 years ago; just in little pubs, then our band became recognised and we played at our biggest venue- the O2 academy. Playing in front of many people is intimidating, scary but most of all exciting and we appreciate everyone who turns up at our gigs.”

“We don’t want to be anyone, we want to be original. We love bands asking us for help but if we had to look up to anyone, it would definitely be the Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian, Kings Of Leon, and Franz Ferdinand” The Artillery are looking on auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent next year to express their uniqueness, also to show the audience they do not inspire to be anything else but original.

Unfortunately The Artillery are headlining their last gig on Saturday 19th November after 3 years of performing together. They said “we have bigger and better things to come, but for now its goodbye” They will go down in history and everyone has appreciated their music greatly.

Looking at the history of indie, many bands have made it big through the indie generation. If the early ’90s was a catastrophe for the indie scene, the new millennium has been a huge success with many bands such as, The Artic monkeys, The Script and The Kooks. The Artillery have been known to have met ‘The Kooks’ and they told INDIGO that it was them who made them inspire to become a 4 piece band.

Family have been great support for the band over the past 3 years and they said ‘we could not have done any of it without them’ The Artillery have progressed a huge amount over time, going from performing in little pubs to performing in front of mass crowds at arenas and they claim they couldn’t of done it without the help of friends, family and fans.
